Medical Assessment

A medical assessment begins with getting a thorough history from the owner. You’ll hear questions like how is the pet eating and drinking? Any vomiting, diarrhea or coughing? All of these details are important in evaluating your pet’s health.

Next a physical examination is performed, whereby your pet’s eyes, ears, skin, cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal and skeletal system are examined for any abnormalities.

Blood tests can be performed as necessary to assess the proper functioning of your pet’s kidneys, liver, pancreas, and endocrine system including the thyroid gland and adrenal glands. Urine tests can detect similar problems. Depending on your pet’s condition, we may recommend further diagnostic tests such as radiography (X-rays), endoscopy (internal scoping), ultrasound or surgery.

We’ll be consulting with you and working together towards the best possible outcome for your pet.
